It sure takes some nerve to release an album like "Gigahearts"! And what I stated should be understood in a positive sense. In fact, I believe that one must be both aware of their own slyness and conscious of having the ability to compose an equally cunning album.
Here, the term cunning is used to highlight how knowing where and how to act (in the musical field) can be very useful to those seeking a slice of commercial success in a well-defined arena. There is nothing here that hasn't been planned and conceived with the intention of winning over those who will listen to the Italian band's second extended work, from the look to the sound. We are in the midst of an apotheosis deriving from Marylin Manson, White Zombie/Rob Zombie, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, and Shotgun Messiah applied in a context that sometimes winks at EBM, elsewhere at cybernetic metal and the more dynamic dark rock.
Always in the name of a songwriting that doesn't show any sloppiness and has been planned with meticulous care to adhere to the pact with the devil that Dope Stars Inc. have signed: being, fundamentally, a pop band.
