Donald Byrd

Donald Byrd (1932–2013) was an American jazz trumpeter from Detroit whose career spanned hard bop through soul-jazz and jazz-funk. A prolific Blue Note artist, he later embraced funk-driven productions and taught as an academic while mentoring younger musicians.
