Ronnie James Dio (born Ronald James Padavona; July 10, 1942 – May 16, 2010) was an American singer who was the frontman of Rainbow and later joined Black Sabbath before founding the band Dio. "Holy Diver" (1983) is widely regarded as a classic of 1980s heavy metal.
