In this review, I absolutely want to express all the love for this singer, whose sweet and pure voice always moves me, especially when I play this album, definitely better than the previous "No Angel" from 1999.
This album, released in 2003, is the consecration for the English pop singer, sister of the famous Rollo Armstrong, a producer already known for creating "Faithless." The song that stands out the most for the beauty and romanticism of the album is definitely "White Flag," which was also used in the Vodafone ad when that Megan Gale was still around. A song that propels her into the Olympus of English pop, which during that period had experienced a significant drop in quality. A song that was very underrated is "Sand In My Shoes," which I find very charming, thanks to Dido's always light and delightful voice. However, this song is tainted by the excessive length of the track, which remains one of the most pleasant and listenable songs.
Then "Life For Rent" was released, a song that takes the name of the album... and what can I say? It seems pointless to describe it because the style of the London singer is almost always (3/4 of the time) the same. Calm song, low voice timbre, minimal intensity, and this is what distinguishes the girl from many other artists, but not only that... unlike other singers, Dido has always been professional, never seen taking a microphone and shouting "so who's the best ??!"
She just sings, doesn't show off, doesn't let it go to her head, does her job and does it well.
The album contains 11 new songs plus a ghost track, and it definitely does not make us miss the previous debut.
'White Flag' is perfect for radio airplay, but the album contains other little gems starting with the title track 'Life For Rent.'
Dido is still in love, damn it. And she has no intention of stopping.
Call Dido an artist, because someone who writes 'It's hard sometimes not to look away...' and sings like this deserves that title.
