After the release of the album (and their masterpiece) "III: Viaggio negli arcipelaghi del tempo" in 1974, Delirium disbanded amidst the complete disinterest of both audience and critics. In the early '90s, thanks to a renewed interest sparked by some new arrangements of their historic pieces, the group reformed and began performing regularly live. In 2007, they released - under the renowned Black Widow label of Genoa - the live album "Vibrazioni notturne," which marked their official comeback.

"Il nome del vento" is their brand new record release (again under the Black Widow label). This, finally, shows us a reborn group, full of inspiration and vitality. Cohesive. "They were not left alone" in shaping this latest effort. Supporting them is their historic lyricist (specifically from "Lo scemo e il villaggio," the second work after the departure of the charismatic Ivano Fossati) Mauro La Luce, the splendid voice of Sophya Baccini, and that of some former friends like Mimmo Di Martino (their former guitarist) and Stefano "Lupo" Galifi of Museo Rosenbach; and a string quartet that brings us back to the atmospheres of "III...".

Keyboards and flute take us back in time, precisely to the previous album, as "Dio del silenzio" is revisited (...in un attimo di eternità/sono la fiamma che non muore mai...). This is the opening of the record.

The title track takes us into dreamlike, enchanted atmospheres where the voice of Mimmo Di Martino combined with that of Sophya Baccini leads us into magical sinuosity, especially with the strings playing a key role. We then arrive at "Verso il naufragio," an interesting track led by Grice's sax that flows into a tribute/citation of "Theme one" by the maestros Van der Graaf Generator. Moments rich in pathos are also "L'acquario delle stelle," "Profeta senza profezie," and above all, the suite "Dopo il vento," over 9 minutes of pure creative genius.

A welcome, indeed, a very welcome return.
