LA RECENSIONE

As I write, I am in the homeland of this band. I found the album while browsing through the records of Vader and Behemoth, the only bands I knew from this country. Through various informants, I discovered that besides a great death metal scene, there is also another very prolific gothic metal scene. This CD caught my eye and I thought "let's try it, it only costs 25 zloty! (about 7 euros)." And for once quality, thank God, has fully outweighed the price.

Delight is a quintet with no less than 4 albums and a DVD to their credit. This is their latest work and dates back to 2004.
The offer is a very inspired gothic metal, with interesting and sufficiently catchy riffs that are not boring on the first listen. However, the arrangements are not simple at all because they are enriched by great keyboard and synthesizer work. The electronic sampling finally gives it an extra gear: it enriches the instrumental base with numerous tempo changes and does not stifle the work of guitars, drums, and bass (which is very present and dark).
What truly dominates, however, is the immense voice of Paulina Maslanka, the group's front angel. Generally tall, crystalline, and angelic, but also fierce and powerful when needed. Remarkable.

If you manage to find it, I highly recommend it if only to savor something different from the usual Anglophone offerings and to peek into Eastern Europe.

A gothic metal album like I haven't heard in a long time.
