Now we are really tired! Lately, it would indeed be self-destructive to contradict or object to those who convincingly claim that various genres (in this case, symphonic metal) of metal are preparing, over time, for their own end. Ideas are increasingly scarce, all to the detriment of fans who, eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new work, end up reconsidering as soon as they insert the new full-length into their player. The result? Die-hard fans, in most cases, regret the previous works, desperately wondering if in the future the band can fill in "what didn't go down well." People constantly ask if the authors didn't have time to propose something different and don't realize that the problem is now another... On the other hand, a good circle of fans is content, erroneously believing that theirs was just a change of course that still convinces.

All this revolves around the Dutch band Delain, founded by former Within Temptation keyboardist Martijn Westerholt. There has been much talk about their current competition: some argue that Martijn Westerholt, brother of Robert, was one of the few to have launched the Within Temptation proposal on the market; those who oppose this statement are convinced that Within Temptation is doing well even without his contribution. Honestly, I don't care much about their competition: both bands have had the opportunity to show us their "undisputed" potential both live and in studio works.

Returning to "April Rain," apart from the promotional video clip of the new work, which is very suggestive with pleasant shots, as was the case with the new single from Sirenia, I don't know at this point what their battle motto might be: "That the symphonic is dead and now if we don't want to put it aside, either you settle for this soup, or you'll never see us again?".

Together with the latest symphonic metal albums that have come out since 2009, their solution absolutely cannot convince: an album in poor taste that will soon be forgotten. There is no need for me to analyze each piece individually, trying to extrapolate which song stimulated me the most. Perhaps Sirenia and Autumn stood out for having produced some songs of good quality, but this work seems like a recycling of the worst symphonic metal songs ever made.

There is really little to say, except that this team hasn't hit rock bottom, as unfortunately has happened and can happen to several world-famous bands, worse, it died before it even began.

Tracklist Lyrics and Videos

01   April Rain (04:36)

How does it feel when all you’re counting on is scatterbrain
Every wind that you have sailed upon a hurricane
Every summer you have seen was filled with April rain
It doesn’t get easy, don’t you know...

Fortune smiles on you
You’re not watching, dig that hole deeper
Fortune smiles on you
You’re not watching, create your own fate

Count your blessings and prepare to change your point of view
All those days that you spend waiting won’t come back to you
Take off the glasses that have shaded your world black and grey
It doesn’t get easy, don’t you know...

Fortune smiles on you
You’re not watching, dig that hole deeper
Fortune smiles on you
You’re not watching, create your own fate

It keeps raining, keeps raining, keeps raining
It keeps raining `cause we are blind
keeps raining `cause we are tired
keeps raining `cause we are blind to fortune’s kindness now
It keeps raining `cause we are blind, it will keep raining `cause we are tired
It keeps raining `cause we are blind oh, it will keep raining `cause we are tired

Fortune smiles on you
You’re not watching, dig that hole deeper
Fortune smiles on you
You’re not watching, create your own fate
