Polly Jean Harvey: for over twenty years she has been delighting us with her musical narratives, sometimes soft and dry, sometimes delicate and enchanting. She has collaborated with Nick Cave and Mick Harvey; and finally, she has "mistreated" in her own way a masterpiece by Bob Dylan: "Highway 61 Revisited." more
It seems they please the parish priest of Pana, mizzica. more
Well, what can I say, it's a great album, experimental yet majestic. The first track, if it can be called that, deserves five stars; the next three tracks, "If," "Summer 68," and "Fat Old Sun" are good pieces, although they can't compete with the first one, which is of an entirely different caliber, but which song could hold its own against that masterpiece? Almost none. The last track, on the other hand, follows in the footsteps of the first, experimental but enjoyable and well-crafted. more
"Still": my double vinyl, listened to in the morning to warm up body, soul, mind. Once again, it has achieved its purpose; an album released in 1981, a year after what we all know, dramatically. A part of unreleased tracks, some shocking and stunning as only they could offer you: "Ice Age," "Dead Souls," "The Only Mistake"...tremendous. The second half is live, from the last concert in Birmingham: it was May 2, 1980; "Digital" annihilates you, breaks you in two...FOREVER... more
How much I loved Roland and Curt in the eighties and nineties!!! Exquisite and well-crafted Techno Pop, with perfect Soul, Funky, Rock embellishments; in my opinion, among the best in those magical decades... MAD WORLD... more
Courtney stated that this album was aimed at the average American who buys one record a year. She said it all, I believe. more
Five years; an interminable half-decade my spirit had to wait to once again savor the dreamlike, mystical, decadent atmospheres of this new album by Anathema. A captivating collection where the English lads revisit tracks from their past, performed in a sumptuous acoustic version that makes the listening experience even more intense and filled with pathos. From the opening "Fragile Dreams," through the parts of "One Last Goodbye," to the shimmering "Angelica"... ASCETICI... more
What to say about Marky Ramone, born Marc Steven Bell... The least indispensable of all the big brothers. It’s better not to go on, drawing a veil of pity over how he's mistreating a LEGEND... RAMONES SAUCE... more
Cover, as in many other works by the English, splendid in its simplicity: a fiery red sky over a boat pulled ashore. And we are once again in the presence of a masterpiece; ten tracks, with the electronic component shining through in many songs, not to mention the guitar drive as in "Pulled Under At 2000..." But it's the title track that gives me incredibly high emotional moments, thanks to the sublime, enchanting, enveloping voice of Lee Douglas...FLYING... more
This time, the artistic maturity achieved has not particularly benefited De Feis. Refined, sophisticated, and undeniably magical in some parts. However, the excessive length of the pieces is quite challenging to follow. Less barbaric and much, much more romantic than usual. more
The most mature and thoughtful of the band. And perhaps the most handsome as well...
P.S.
The acoustic parts are spectacular! more
I absolutely love these guys.. They have a ton of stuff I enjoy, from Led Zeppelin to space-rock, from poignant melodies to electronic music. The rhythm is kick-ass and the lyrics work well.. There you go, they’re a band that really delivers.. And that’s no small feat. I feel sorry for the talented Benjamin Curtis, he knew what he was doing... more
WHY?!? Ps. half a little ball just for 'A Thousand Days Before', which sounds like an outtake from "Down on the Upside", if the final master had been more 'human' and less glossy and polished, maybe it wouldn't have looked out of place on that record...instead, damn, what lousy sounds...so sterile that not even Madonna. Why, for fuck's sake? Fine.. more
The best example of musical quality due to meticulous and deliberate composition. His perfectionism also made him innovative: the "Corale" is a striking example. But apart from the symphonies, the most beautiful moments of his works are actually hidden in his simpler pieces, such as the sonatas for piano and violin, or for string trio and piano. more
Awkward, raw, poetic, dramatic. A concept about the Christianization of peoples seen from the perspective of the Vikings. An excellent blend of black and epic. Pure emotions. "One Road to Asa Bay" is the band's manifesto: a tortured and angry homage to the end of an era... more
What peace... I don’t want to go back anymore... I need this peace... leave me here... in the space... here... watching the world that belongs to me... the world that will soon be a part of me again...
Here I am, back, and already I start to feel restless. I want to immediately return to breathing peace... peace... I need this peace... more
Pleasant album, it blends ambient with calm atmospheres while showing clear references to past albums. Excellent as background music, so it gets more than a passing grade. Of course, it wasn't necessary, but I have a lot of affection for them. 3.5. more
