Oh my goodness, what cruelty! Monolithic sounds, distorted guitars, and at times unsettling: and we’re only in '68! A blues/rock that serves as a prologue to a progressive and gradual hardening of the sound that will involve the bands to come. A journey destined to persevere for over two decades. more

Lately, I've been quite obsessed with this wonderful album: the 2002 debut by Areknames, back when they were still a trio, shows a superior quality. The Van der Graaf references are clear, and I like them so much for that as well. Only four stars because their second album is even better. more

An innocent album, with colorful and tender hues; almost poetic. De Gregori already expresses his hermetic lyricism that will become more prominent in the subsequent albums with "Signora Aquilone," while Venditti condenses his popular romanticism in 3-4 gems including "Sora Rosa," a poem about adolescent restlessness, in my opinion his most beautiful piece and the only one that can truly deserve this title (I prefer it here more than in his solo albums, "Lilly" excluded). more
The pinnacle of the Dalla-Roversi duo, perhaps the album that most highlights the whimsical eclecticism of the Bolognese singer-songwriter in a concept album that, starting from the automobile, gives rise to a wide digression on the catastrophic advent of progress and technology. "Mille Miglia" and "Nuvolari" are anthology pieces, while "Il motore del 2000" and "Due ragazzi" bring tears. more

They were never my musical champions, but I love this album, the first one I bought from them and my favorite of the '90s along with Violator. From then on, I didn't follow them anymore, maybe mistakenly. "Useless" in particular is an old memory from my youth that I hold dear... more
