Wayne Wang -The Center of the World
Masterpiece film by Wayne Wang (already the director of the double masterpiece 'Smoke' + 'Blue In the Face'). There is a man and a woman who cannot love each other. In physical contact, something is always missing, and the emotional connection is altered and hindered by the fact that evidently neither of them believes in the possibility of love anymore. The scenes, not just those of eros, and the settings, the colors—all of it is fantastic and in some way psychedelic. We are in Las Vegas, but the film could be set anywhere. We could be anywhere and nowhere at the same time. Like the two characters in the film. more

Townes Van Zandt -Our Mother the Mountain
Memorable. Stunning album by a little-known singer-songwriter, but one that produces a masterpiece. more
Bob Dylan -Highway 61 Revisited
A magnificent masterpiece by Bob Dylan, who here raises the bar of compositional and lyrical quality, gifting us one of the most beautiful albums of all time. "Like A Rolling Stone," "Ballad Of A Thin Man," and "Desolation Row" (my favorite from the album) speak for themselves... more

Bob Dylan -Bringing It All Back Home
An album of remarkable craftsmanship and seminal quality, pushing Bob Dylan towards more "aggressive" and direct sounds. It's still far from Highway 61 Revisited, but it remains a great album nonetheless. more
Free -Tons Of Sobs
A 17-year-old, a 19-year-old, and two 20-year-olds. Four kids, in short, and yet already capable of producing something like this... After all, as they say? Class is not water!! more
The Holydrug Couple -Moonlust
The champions of neo-psychedelia made in Chile. Their latest album was released last May (2015) via BYM Records (of course) from the project by Ives Sepulveda. Fluid sounds and typically dreampop, it has nothing to envy to more prestigious and hyped names in the genre.

Chelsea Wolfe -Hypnos/Flame
Single released by the dark priestess of the moment, also favored by Sasha Gray. Two tracks, 'Hypnos' and 'Flame', recorded during the sessions for 'Abyss', plus three demos that will presumably be part of the upcoming project. Only for the super-fans or those who genuinely need to feel sad and depressed. more
Big Big Train -The Underfall Yard
Masterpiece album. Listen to the ending of "Victorian Brickwork," with the heartbreaking trumpet notes, and you'll feel the tears streaming down. "Lost in low light and ocean tides, the love you never meant to hide." more
The Zombies
Sugary and trippy pop like certain liqueurs from grandma. Just half a glass is enough to find yourself on clouds. And it doesn’t matter if, once you come back down, you'll have a sticky tongue and fingers. more
SBTRKT -Save Yourself
Released unexpectedly and in full streaming on YouTube on March 25th. With the contribution and collaboration of friends and other artists (The-Dream, DRAM, Sampha), the London-based DJ and producer scores another significant hit for the dubstep genre, blending it with soul and alternative R&B as usual. The album is a snapshot of how he sees the world at this moment, paying attention to major themes as well as to the small things in our daily lives. I wouldn't use the word 'suffered', but the title itself, 'Save Yourself', nonetheless emphasizes what I would describe as a certain urgency, not just creatively. more
Paul Haggis -In the Valley of Elah
A drama directed by Paul Haggis centered on the topic of the Iraq war. A soldier, returning from the Middle East, is brutally killed under unclear circumstances. In a contrast between the competencies and jurisdictions of the local police and the military, the figure of the father (Tommy Lee Jones), a Vietnam veteran and former military policeman, emerges as he searches for answers regarding the true fate of his son. A truly rich cast for a film whose significant content lies in the plot and how the real themes surface through discovery after discovery, leading to an ending that, while shocking, can be deemed inevitable within the logic of 'war.' more
The Ganjas -Ghost River
A compilation by the Chilean neo-psychedelic band The Ganjas released by the always brilliant label BYM Records. Let's just say they're not the most suggestible band of the bunch, and this compilation serves as a confirmation in that regard. more
John Doe -The Westerner
The concept of the album is intriguing: a tribute to the writer and activist for Native American rights, Michael Blake (the one from 'Dances with Wolves'), but the album by the former member of the LA punk band X ultimately turns out to be really boring. It wouldn't even please the most passionate fans of Arizona desert country and/or those who love Cat Power (who makes a guest appearance on the song 'A Little Help'). We are certainly not in the presence of Howe Gelb, after all. more

Gnod -Mirror
Their music has also been defined as 'Metal for socialists'. Their sound has something to do with the Swans of Michael Gira, or to stay on the theme of albums that have been discussed recently, with that of The Body ('No One Deserves Happiness'). 'Mirror', particularly celebrated in the UK in alternative circles, is a hallucinatory, pessimistic album, where the droning element reigns supreme in a mix of metallic, industrial, and at the same time psychedelic sounds.
