Franco Battiato -L'arca di Noè
A fundamental album for Battiato's future, a pessimistic album that hopes for a reset of today's world for something better. The manifesto of all this is the powerful Clamori, immediately followed by the fierce La torre, the gloomy Radio Varsavia, and the decisive L'esodo. Not that the others are any less, Voglio vederti danzare is legendary and Scalo a grado has one of Battiato's most memorable lyrics. The arrangements are a bit bare, veering away from the richness of its predecessors to something much sparser, digital, and hard; they may appeal to some or not, I stand a bit in the middle. Still, L'arca di Noè is a great album for Battiato, who after the success of La voce del padrone seems to have changed direction towards something different. 8/10, the weakest of the 80s and that says a lot. more
Franco Battiato -Patriots
Do I need to add anything else? It's not perfect like La voce del padrone... but come on, there's Up patriots to arms, there's Prospettiva Nevski, there's Venezia Istanbul, and so on; I could name them all. An album that is still huge today, timeless. 9/10, another classic. more

What more can I say, it's perfect in every second. 10/10 and you won't think about it anymore. more

Wonderful work. I hear so many people making and judging reviews and giving themselves all sorts of nicknames accompanied by curses. Poor idiots! Listen to the Music. more

The Smashing Pumpkins
The broken pumpkin is Corgan's.
5 because their first albums gish + siamese dream (masterpiece) + 2/3 mellon + 1/2 adore are worth more than the entire discography of the various revival-something acts of the 2000s.
Then the megalomania of the broken pumpkin took over and destroyed everything.
For me, the Smashing Pumpkins cease to exist with Adore.
The recent waste of pure talent like Jimmy is inhumane, reduced to a mere side character in nonsensical songs and cringe videos trying to resurrect what cannot be brought back to life.
The 5 is also given for Jimmy's significant contribution, one of the greatest rock drummers of all time and an immense natural talent. more
Fontaines D.C.
Usual fake alternative media creation where the indie phenomenon is chased at all costs.
Little form and little substance, many pedestrian copycats, forgettable lyrics, but an arrogant pretentiousness they can't even afford in their wildest dreams.
The comparisons to Joyce's works are laughable; it’s something that the author himself would already be turning in his grave over.
Musically, they don’t rate more than 5.5/6. Around, they're rated 9 by many musically ignorant scribblers who make a living talking well about the usual marketed products and tearing down those who don’t help them earn their bread.
I don’t know if I feel more sorry for the sellout scribblers or these guys.
In any case, I give a 15/10 to their entourage. If they receive such ratings, absolutely outside of any purely musical logic, it's thanks to the marketing hype and those who shell out the cash to align the criticism. more

Papa Roach
Course on speculation regarding young people lacking both self-esteem and the tools to realize how low-level this music is. Thank goodness the early 2000s are long gone, along with the fascination for this music. more
Hoobastank
I'll be honest: some of their songs aren't even the worst thing I've ever had the misfortune to listen to. Nevertheless, if I think of a "pointless" band, I instinctively think of them. They took Make Yourself and Morning View by Incubus and decided to cannibalize them until the end of their days. more
The Strokes
Musically, they rate somewhere between zero and one. Excessively exalted through pure marketing operations to exploit their look and image, turning them into the latest (freak show) phenomena. Some incompetent copycat magazines tout them as the best band of the 2000s and praise their first album, which is nothing more than a hodgepodge of references sprinkled with the usual three chords. Let's overlook the lyrics. Harmless in themselves, but pointless. Some songs work well as background for alcoholic parties for fifteen-year-olds. more
Minutemen -What Makes A Man Start Fires?
But what record is this? How much stuff is there? The base is that of punk-hardcore, of course, and then there's a fragrant mix where Funk-Post-Punk touches Jazz touches Blues, and this time even the Rock/Rock Blues guitar of Boon is played and sung by everyone together, with the spicy seasoning of the sarcastic, indispensable invective of the lyrics, ironic mockeries that always put them a step above the other groups of the "genre" (but then, they are a genre apart anyway) just as the tremendous musical and instrumental creativity of Boon, Watt, and Hurley elevates them by another step. In short, above all. Immense. more
