A typical album whose true value is recognized only years later. Time is needed to shake off an uncomfortable predecessor, which in the case of Generator is a triple burden. Coming out unscathed from Suffer, No Control, and Against was no easy task, and indeed, it paid the price; and now I can say it out loud, unjustly given the validity of Generator. A strange fate for bands like Husker Du and Fugazi in giving birth to albums that nearly touch greatness, only to be received and assessed as less than they deserve. Re-evaluated justly.
