"Passion" and "Apocalypto" are masterpieces. His character is a bit too naive in some ways, but as a director, there's nothing to say. He may not be Kubrick, and he honestly doesn't care to be, but I don't really get all this obsession with him in the end. more

Incredible to have ignored, until a few months ago, this extraordinary band. They fit me like a tailor-made suit. Forget about the jam band label that their occasional listeners insist on using: their songs are structured, well-arranged, varied, full of essential melodic transitions, sometimes featuring surprising harmonic and/or rhythmic variations. The way the frontman John Bell sings is unique and instantly characterizes them.
I strongly suggest discovering them, and from there admire them for life, on YouTube at a concert at Red Rocks near Denver (one of the many incredible U.S. venues that help turn that country into a musical Eden, albeit lacking or even detestable in other aspects, which fills me with envy).
For some time now, I have been happily plodding through their extensive discography, CD by CD, available online at quite a reasonable price.
How wonderful to discover more magnificent rock never heard before, in 2017! more
