The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Born initially as a sort of response to Cream, the Jimi Hendrix Experience soon became the most formidable band of the late '60s. Jimi Hendrix was its leader, not to mention the most talented, the one who managed to capture almost all the attention, but Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding were by no means mere supporting players; rather, they were two excellent and respected musicians. They were certainly not the first example of a power trio, but they were simply its highest expression. more
Cream
A "seminal" band, they had a remarkable impact on the music scene of that time and beyond. Three excellent musicians made instrumental improvisations, especially live, their strong suit. Unfortunately, the sung parts in the studio related to their original repertoire were a bit dull and often cloying. more
