Paal Nilssen-Love & Ken Vandermark
A mammoth in a Bohemian glassware shop couldn't have done better. more
Giorgio Gaber -Anni affollati
Of course, the best! more
Gentle Giant -Free Hand
The last great album by Gentle Giant (though "Interview" is still more than valid), particularly illuminated by the masterpiece "On Reflection," one of their best tracks. All the songs are excellent, and many this time push quite hard on the group's "rock" accelerator: the title track, "Just the Same," "Time to Kill" (very nice, except perhaps for those little choruses in the last 30 seconds that feels strange coming from Gentle Giant; it's not their usual stuff), and the electrifying electric folk-rock of "Mobile" are all great examples of the groove and grit that these guys could produce, as always showcasing their technical and compositional skills in the more "intricate" passages. Then there's the "Gentle Giant" folk that almost veers into the "sacred" with the gem "His Last Voyage." A great album featuring outstanding tracks and a true masterpiece. After this, the decline will begin, understandably. more
Boston -Don't Look Back
history!!!...one of my first loves! more
Baustelle -Fantasma
The album of the Baustellian maturity. Stunning songs that come alive in concert, believe me. more
Baustelle -Sussidiario illustrato della giovinezza
Oh my gosh, grant me 5 stars for the time spent on these songs. more
Baustelle -La moda del lento
I wouldn't change the first 2 albums by Baustelle for anything. I prefer this one, because in its imperfections, it is so human that it reflects and distorts. 5 stars is quite a gift, I know. more
Big Bill Broonzy
There will certainly be other greater artists, but this was electric blues without electricity. more
Black Mountain -In The Future
5 blunt stars. They performed a miracle back then. Already rediscovered, but it will be rediscovered cyclically like great albums, you'll see. more
Blind Lemon Jefferson
In racist Texas, she became a star, lovely. Most of her songs haven't aged well, but some gems can indeed be found. more
Blind Willie Johnson -The Complete Blind Willie Johnson
If you do something in 1929 and I write about it 90 years later, it means something. Anyway, the tracklist of this album changes often; it should depend on the versions. more
Bloc Party -Silent Alarm
Writing about this album from 2019 is like writing in 1959 about the beauty of Hiroshima before the bomb. more
Bon Iver -For Emma, Forever Ago
2 or 3 songs really affected the music scene in 2007 and messed things up a bit. What a shock it was. more
Bon Iver -Bon Iver, Bon Iver
Bon Iver, after the hype of "Emma," has proven to be a formidable artist, full of directions. But I'll always be the one shouting "Skinny Love!!!" from the crowd. more
The Bongolian -Bongos For Beatniks
Someone who knows how to play with music, for sure. more
Bruce Springsteen -The River
What can you say about an album like this? Thanks so much? more
Bruce Springsteen -The Ghost Of Tom Joad
Much more conceptual than substantial. But I guess that's a really stupid criticism. more
Bruce Springsteen -Born In The U.S.A.
Grandiose songs, over-the-top production, but it was right that way considering how it all turned out. more
Bruce Springsteen -Darkness On The Edge Of Town
The album I'm least fond of from "THOSE" years. But I imagine the Boss doesn't care about this statement. more
Apes on Tapes -Foreplays
They are Italians and they make beautiful music. What more could you want? Maybe if they were, I don’t know, English, they would end up in nothingness, who knows. more
