"They invented rock & roll, new wave, psychedelia, progressive, and post-rock." Excuse me? They didn't invent any of these genres, I'm sorry. At most, they (and especially their managers) invented the concept of the modern "band": before, there were only solo artists with unknown names behind them during concerts, see Elvis, Sinatra, etc. My vote is a no.
