"Girotondo", the second single by Daria Marchioli, is a cheerful and light piece with a decidedly international flair. An experiment in blending Italian and Asian music, which, if properly developed, could serve as an interesting point for future influences. Drawing inspiration from oriental pop melodies, the singer-songwriter uses a techno base typical of the '80s, very rhythmic and with high-pitched tones, with lyrics that smoothly transition from Italian to English and Chinese. However, the origins of this music are entirely Italian: Daria Marchioli, known as DARIA, was born and raised in Pescara, where she currently studies oriental languages. After releasing her first single, "Shùnjian – In My Eyes" in 2018, she is ready for an encore this year with a carefree "Girotondo". Analyzing the theme of travel, Daria talks about her personal escape from daily life, full of freedom and cheerfulness; a merry-go-round, not only metaphorical, allows her to shake off everyday tasks and constraints, and to twirl freely through the beauties of life, near and far. So it's not about a journey towards a destination, but about a full circle looking for what can bring a smile and lighten the heart. The song, produced and arranged by Daniela Munda (Ni Hao Records music production studio), will be released on Monday, May 20th, on the singer's YouTube channel. Daria is an emerging author, still awaiting the response from the general public, but she hopes to make her way thanks to the distinctive traits of her music: by combining her linguistic skills with her musical passion, she has developed a message counter to the often decadent lyrics of today's pop. "I feel that I can better express my emotions through music," she says, "the bond I feel with it is deep and indissoluble. The stage is my world, my second home. I firmly believe that music has the power to communicate beyond any language barrier. From this comes the desire to take part in this project that goes beyond the ordinary and beyond the borders of Italy and Europe, with the hope that my joy in singing reaches all those who will listen to this single."
