KO DE MONDO!
Reviewing such a masterpiece is a responsibility!
The year is 1994, and an album with an exquisitely crafted cardboard cover is released. Ko de Mondo is the title. Two sunken eyes stare at us from the cover, Consorzio Suonatori Indipendenti it says, and already the anticipation of what awaits becomes thrilling.
Giovanni Lindo Ferretti with his band gives us what will become one of the masterpieces of Italian independent discography.
Ko de Mondo is a magma of renewal with strong influences from C.C.C.P., yet here poetry prevails. "At times I perceive amid indistinct murmuring clear particulars. Of clear splendid light, minimal details in the foreground" is the first statement from A Tratti, the first searing track of the album.
The poetry begins to take shape with Palpitazione tenue and Celluloide, projecting us into the magic of Del Mondo. A historic piece by the group destined to become a manifesto for a generation orphaned of models to follow. A polemic of becoming, of a world that no longer exists made of atavistic uncontaminated purity.
However, the track that splits this masterpiece in half is Intimisto, perhaps one of the most beautiful love poems. "You steal my time, you steal my energy, you don't listen to the lament, you don't listen to the call" Anyone could see themselves in these words of an unrequited, unsuitable, distant, and unreachable love.
In Occicente and Memorie di una testa tagliata, the group's transversality is evident. Social and political commitment. One eye to the west and one to the east, full of love and polemic in an era where what is happening is still unclear, but it seems that they possess clarity.
A cultural melting pot will soon emerge, where the East will dominate over a now-declining West. "In viaggio" and "Fuochi nella notte" lovingly conclude a masterpiece to be read, turned over, listened to, and loved.
Thank you, Consorzio Suonatori Indipendenti, for this masterpiece of the timeless old millennium, yet full of magic.

04 Del mondo (04:41)
E' stato un tempo il mondo giovane e forte,
odorante di sangue fertile,
rigoglioso di lotte, moltitudini,
splendeva pretendeva molto...
Famiglie donne incinte, sfregamenti,
facce gambe pance braccia...
Dimora della carne, riserva di calore,
sapore e familiare odore...
Famiglie donne incinte, sfregamenti,
facce gambe pance braccia...

"Del Mondo," perhaps the most beautiful track ever written by the group, features a text of great beauty over a small and elegant melody.
"Ko De Mondo" is a definitely important album, a new language, decidedly characterized in the arrangements, very original and perhaps detestable to some, but not to your reviewer: hats off!
