The Coldplay, after their dazzling success of 6 million copies, release their highly anticipated second album, "A Rush Of Blood To The Head".
The CD opens with the relentless beat of "Politik," a track with a rhythm unimaginable during the time of Parachutes, and a stunning finale. It continues with the romantic and well-chosen single "In My Place," a true hit. Memorable is track number 4, "The Scientist," an authentic masterpiece, alongside other excellent rock pieces such as "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face," "Clocks," one of the most musically successful tracks, the Eastern-influenced "Daylight," and the song that gives the CD its name, "A Rush Of Blood To The Head." Interesting is the Dylan-like ballad "Green Eyes," and the nocturnal and unsettling "A Whisper." The album closes with "Amsterdam," a song that once again highlights C. Martin's voice and piano-playing skills, the band’s leader.
In conclusion, with this excellent work, Coldplay certainly hasn't brought anything new, but they demonstrate maturity and have shaken off the uncomfortable label of being the heirs of the legendary Radiohead, acquiring a style of their own.
Coldplay put a smile upon your face!
'A Rush Of Blood To The Head' only smiles.
"In My Place" is a truly original and catchy track, beautiful and enveloping despite its commercial overexposure.
"Amsterdam" offers magical piano notes and Martin's whispered voice, making it an unforgettable closing song.
‘A Rush’ is a masterpiece of four men who in the space of two years have become adults.
‘The Scientist’ must be discovered on one’s own and enjoyed every single second.
