Rob Arnold, guitarist of Chimaira, says: "There's something for everyone on this record... everyone that truly loves metal that is". And after listening to "Resurrection" I can absolutely confirm what he stated, because their fourth album marks a departure (already partly anticipated by their previous self-titled work) from the past, when the band was placed in the new metal sector.
"Resurrection" encapsulates the essence of what it means to be heavy and metallic at the same time while avoiding being catapulted back in time or wrapped up in memories.
Thirteen formidable, dark, personal, explosive, contaminated tracks just enough to enrich them, epic, comparable to both Slayer and Nevermore, powerful, raw, fluid, filled with monstrous riffs, with a rhythm section in perpetual mutation, drums beaten to the extreme, and an enormous groove. The tracks seem placed there specifically to devastate you.
One step away from history.
