The Power is a category within the vast expanse of metal. Whether loved or hated, power cannot hide its importance in the global music landscape. From a touch of heavy melody, an entire genre has emerged that has expanded a large slice of the music scene. Power then developed into several subcategories, from melodic heavy to epic and medieval melodic, from frantic and very fast, to progressive, etc., etc. The power scene focused on fantasy themes has grown monstrously, leading to the creation of many "clones" that continue to propose "warrior" melodies, further increasing monotony and failing to produce anything enjoyable. But it so happened (and it hadn't happened in ages) that I listened to an album that made me rethink the taste of "fast and melodic" from another perspective. It might not be anything innovative, but it certainly isn't the usual pile of ballads thrown together that you can barely listen to in one go.
The main theme is the now very famous medieval fantasy world spiced with the necessary baroque style. But it has many unique features and original patterns that give an idea of something well-conceived, not copied, and different. They remind me of Dragonforce in their melodic solos that wander off in speed, but otherwise, they don't seem to be inspired by anything. This Legacy Oh Hate will surely satisfy all the expectations of metallic melody lovers, somewhere between a "Stratovarius" and a "Sonata Arctica." It's quite unfortunate, however, that these Finns don't have the deserved success and remain somewhat unnoticed, even though they could easily compete with more famous artists who keep offering us the same "churchy song" for the millionth time. Excellent mastery of atmospheres, excellent keyboards, and perfect technique. Presence of choirs and very melodic refrains, good speed and high level of epicness. The voice is strong and powerful, alternating with growls in certain songs, but it's not the usual strained high notes.
Absolutely worth listening to "Legacy of Hate part 1" and "Legacy Of Hate part 2," a dark and gothic fantasy adventure that's full of energy.
