THE REVIEW

This is one of my top 3 favorite albums by Cattle Decapitation (and it's probably also in the top 10 overall) and in my opinion, it is a masterpiece. There are few things that don't quite add up: the production is very dark and the guitar has a very peculiar sound, the drums are still very high in the mix (although less than in the previous "To Serve Man") and the vocals are sometimes a bit repetitive. The rest is perfect, the riffs are there (and they are really special) the bass is audible (although not always as much as I would like) and the voice... Well, Travis's voice is impossible. No one has ever managed to replicate it and no one has ever had such a great ability to vary (which he demonstrated only in subsequent albums) and no one has ever managed to transition from such a deep growl to such a piercing scream in such a short time. The lyrics are violent and confirm our intentions: the human race has already made too many mistakes and it's time to pay. They probably demonstrated their desire to experiment starting from the next "Karma.Bloody.Karma" even though this album remains a masterpiece of modern metal. The final Lips & Assholes picks up slaughterhouse noises for a good 9 minutes and makes you promptly side with the Cattle, managing to add a touch of noise and experimental to an already rather noisy album. Finally, the cover shows a cow defecating human pieces and fully represents the depression and viciousness present in this album. It was, of course, promptly censored.
