Casaluce – Crisalide (Materiali Musicali)

After Battiato's death, there is a great longing for this imposing artist and life teacher. Casaluce reminds us of him in some passages, with writing that, especially in the beautiful title track that opens the album, due to its complexity, brings to mind the late artist (especially listen to the chorus of “Crisalide”). To remind us instead of the complexity of life (especially during the lockdown period, when the album was written), he gifts us a beautiful song like “Una giornata alquanto ventosa”. It’s a light semi-acoustic pop, with some concessions to arrangements that dress the song, but what stands out is the great poetic nature of the lyrics that Casaluce puts forward. The same happens with the other tracks. So… Although known so far as a composer, have we perhaps found a new singer-songwriter capable of standing on the scene with dignity and intelligent and emotional lyrics?

Summary by Bot

Casaluce’s album Crisalide evokes the spirit of the late artist Battiato through its complex and poetic songwriting. Written during the lockdown, it explores life’s complexities with emotional depth. Standout tracks like the title track and “Una giornata alquanto ventosa” highlight Casaluce's potential as a singer-songwriter with intelligent lyrics and refined arrangements.
