Too much cleanliness on the homepage; too many lukewarm reviews. It's necessary to fix it with something disgusting, unlistenable.

Which suits the upcoming holidays very well.

Today I won't be alone because, in an extraordinary way, a skeletal hand, an emaciated help will be given to me by my alter ego. That Genital Grinder, testicle shredder translating into our harmonious language, which is also the title of a sunny song by Carcass. The choice of collaboration with GG, therefore, is not accidental; a four-handed or four-footed one!!!

It all originates from the fervent mind of the late John Peel, the famed BBC radio host.

John had the courage to allow the participation of the "cream" of the burgeoning metal movement that took the name Grindcore on his well-known show; the last truly innovative outburst of a genre, Metal, which was not doing too well towards the end of the eighties. Hence, the presence of Carcass and Godflesh in the BBC studios is explained. We can well imagine the total chaos produced by the two bands during the recording sessions: John and his collaborators unleash something menacing, an unholy and neurotic musical chaos that certainly left a good part of the numerous listeners stunned.

The Carcass, then very young but already determined with very clear ideas on where to go, recorded a total of eight tracks in two distinct sessions equally divided in number of "songs" (so to speak); the first in December 1988, the second exactly two years later.

We are therefore at the dawn, in the primordial part of their career; logically the most extreme and destructive in terms of sounds, of approach to the musical matter. Lyrics taken from medical pathology textbooks, the double growl of Jeff and Bill sowing destruction; recordings still acceptable, direct in a sort of live. Grindcore of a malice, a ferocity that is almost unlistenable even for those who have been accustomed for decades to these chilling noises. Standing out as a swirling pinnacle "Cadaveric Incubator Of Endo Parasites": I recommend following the lyrics of this pleasing and floral love song... It's difficult to push further, hard to find something that surpasses such a demonstration of shocking malice. Nothing else to add about Carcass...REEK OF PUTREFACTION...

It's up to the Flesh of God by Justin Broadrick to seek a concrete and incisive response. And they succeed in the intent, recording their four tracks in August 1989. We are in a completely different place compared to Grindcore; Godflesh are about to release their long debut Streetcleaner, which they will do in November of the same year, and therefore have the opportunity to "tune," to introduce part of the album. The result is diabolical: aseptic industrial notes, accompanied by a drum machine with funeral, dark and ominous rhythms. A scorching flow of explosive and putrescent magma. A piercing guitar sound, at the limit of Noise; a bass continuously producing suffocating rhythms. "Like Rats" with its martial and detached cadences is still one of the most significant tracks today, highlighting the path followed by the band throughout their subsequent career...

...YOU BREED LIKE RATS...

John Peel was a genius; Carcass and Godflesh are equally so.
