Suppose you could crystallize into a single sonic amalgam a crossroads between the most polite and solemn Unsane, the Quicksand of their first (remarkable) work, and a dash of the more restrained and stripped-down melodies of Cop Shoot Cop: this is vaguely defined the content of the recent work by the Americans (Hartford, CT) Cable.
In essence: a nice robust bass, thick and full-bodied, scraped vocals, strong but never gratuitously awkward, adequate guitar shredding in addition to a present, athletic, and never intrusive percussive section for thirteen tracks that are less derivative than one might actually understand. Perhaps it lacks a bit of that necessary sense of unleashed reins (which we quite enjoy), in any case, the album often flows jagged and pleasant enough.
An album for nostalgic (noise)rock’n’roll lovers. But I like it.
