LA RECENSIONE

For those unfamiliar with Bugo, I can only say that he's quite a character, and like any great character, whether an idiot or a genius, he deserves a listen. Personally, I don't consider him to be either (I mean an idiot or a genius), but many do: some judge him an idiot for the lyrics he uses, others a genius precisely for the lyrics he uses...

This time, Bugo was coming off a fairly successful album: Dal Lofai al Cisei (Brilliant Title...) even his videos were showing on MTV (See Casalingo and Io Mi Rompo i Coglioni).
For the new album, Bugo decides to release not one, but two!
One (Arriva Golia) with LofaiPop sounds, the other (La Gioia Di Melchiorre) completely acoustic (think Sea Change by Beck? Well, very similar but rougher). The nice thing is that the price isn't even very high, if I’m not mistaken around 16-17 Euros, so in its own small way, a great deal.

I feel compelled to point out a few songs within the two albums; for the first, I mention: Caramelle (very strong), Devo Fare Un Brec (A stoned Jovanotti), Il Sintetizzatore (...) and Notte Giovane, probably the most beautiful track on the album, with a very Beck-like ending.

La Gioia Di Melchiorre is a strange album; it seems like an album by a regular singer-songwriter but with very strange lyrics that are sometimes bordering on the absurd, but believe me, they're very melancholic. Listen to Guardo Su, Cosa Fai Stasera,
Rimbambito and Se Avessi 50 Anni.

Truly "Congratulations" to our Bugo, and let's not care about those who consider him an Idiot...

Summary by Bot

Bugo's 'Golia & Melchiorre' offers a compelling dual album experience, with one disc focusing on indie pop sounds and the other on raw acoustic moodiness. The lyrics are quirky and melancholic, dividing opinions between genius and absurdity. Standout tracks include 'Caramelle' and 'Notte Giovane' on the first album, and 'Guardo Su' and 'Se Avessi 50 Anni' on the second. Overall, it’s a worthy and affordable listen for those intrigued by unique singer-songwriter work.

Bugo

Bugo (Cristiano Bugatti) is an Italian singer-songwriter from the Novara area, often associated with lo-fi experimentation, irony, and sharply observed everyday storytelling. Reviews describe frequent stylistic shifts (from lo-fi rock and acoustic songwriting to synth/electro-pop), and live shows marked by improvisation and multi-instrument performances.

Bugo has definitely grown, his lyrics have improved, and this is especially noticeable in the acoustic album.

For Bugo fans, a must-have work even if it means going to the blood bank, for others it could be a pleasant discovery.

"Pure art and strokes of genius often arise from completely hostile, alienating atmospheres."

"Golia and Melchiorre strip him of his most hidden emotions, of the feelings poorly concealed by a fake clown’s face."
