A sort of poorly executed clone (and I'd like to see) of any "Slaughter Of The Soul", "Count Your Blessings" wins the award for being the first true Metal album for "bimbiminkia", this genre became so popular among Emo and various losers after its release. Even though they plagiarize millions of riffs, no one notices and they relentlessly continue to write shitty songs and sell thousands of copies.
The irony is that now they make completely different music. With the string-skipping à la At The Gates and As I Lay Dying abandoned, what remains is a punkish reminiscence blatantly reminiscent of Bury Your Dead and company and only one member that can be considered at least decent, that Jona borrowed from the defectors I Killed The Prom Queen.
What I remember about this album is just a merciless production and songs with titles so ridiculous they surpass the embarrassing mediocrity of music and lyrics: "Tell Slater Not To Wash His Dick" and "Braille (for stevie wonder's eyes only)" above all. At an old date in support of Killswitch Engage and The Haunted, an anonymous reviewer described them, not wrongly, as "middle school kids miming the execution of tracks by The Black Dahlia Murder", but he had definitely underestimated them: Dimebag is dead, Chuck is dead, Piggy is dead, Randy is dead, Cliff is dead, Miescko Talarczy is dead, and so are Peter Steele and Vitek.
Bring Me The Horizon are alive and well and this is only the first of four albums.
