This is definitely their best album so far. Boris has finally gotten the message: making a J-Pop/Dream Pop/Electropop/Shoegaze album is certainly more enjoyable but above all more original than yet another Stoner/Drone/Ambient record. The heavy use of pedals applied to pop music is something truly interesting. This album has an approach to Japanese mainstream pop and rock music that can make it a joy to listen to casually and interesting to listen to seriously. As for tracks, we have "Party Boy" accompanied by the bass and voice of "Boris" guitarist Wata, which are some of her first vocal/lyrical contributions to a Boris album. Then there are songs like "Kibou-Hope" and "Flare" that provide a much more familiar sound to fans of the album "Pink," but are performed in a slightly different way, with one having a more shoegaze sound and the other a more traditional J-Rock sound. "Black Original" is the only track on the album that carries with it the "club" atmosphere and was honestly the only thing missing from this pop record. In short, the New Album is one of the most unpredictable and drastic evolutions of Boris, and it is also the best and most original.
