THE REVIEW

Writing a review for this immense group was not easy, for various reasons:

1- outside of Germany, they are practically semi-unknown
2- I am utterly in love with this band and writing negatively about them is impossible for me
3- the difficulty in finding their 38, yes, 38, CDs, EPs, DVDs, and VHS tapes from 1979 to 2005

Yes, up until 2005 because at the height of their career, which was stunning, they disbanded, leaving future generations with true masterpieces of heavy, pop, punk, and metal all united by an incredible unmatched live energy. In Germany, they are true idols.
They sing in German, lyrics that reflect the German reality, a German phenomenon for the Germans with a steadfast, loyal, and motivated fan base. So why write about them here? Because this Frankfurt combo made it on their own (boycotted by the press, radio, MTV for initial political choices that were unfortunately mistaken and misunderstood, later disowned) and managed to become an unparalleled phenomenon with millions of records, DVDs, and sold-out concerts all over Germany.

Well, after this necessary introduction, let's talk about their last (sigh) album. This "Adios" reflects what the Onkelz were in 2000, power, energy, melody between rock and metal which is very difficult for me to convey to you. The first track "Feuer" with raging guitars, a paced drum, furious choruses spares no one and is already a hit with its rocking rhythm. But the whole album continues along this line "Ja Ja" a hard rock almost commercial yet always countertrend as is usual with the bohese. "Superstar" almost resembles an American-style hard rock, "Onkelz Vs Jesus" the first single that will wreak havoc live with its engaging anthem.

In conclusion, the whole album continues with energetic and adrenaline-pumping rock-metal rhythms with punk elements, all supported by Kevin's unmistakable hoarse voice, and the rhythm section Peter-drums and Stephan Weidner -bass (also the group's mastermind). The album closes with "Ihr Haettet Wissen Muessen", it's a truly tear-jerking ballad that already promises havoc live (as I could verify having their latest live DVD "La Ultima"). A wonderful album that closes their career while they were riding a phenomenal success after the countless ups and downs they had to go through in the early years. And this is just the tip of the iceberg; I'll tell you, it's not even their best album. There are at least 3-4 others that are simply immense.
