Well, we are faced with something significant, there is no doubt. The thought that four underage boys were able to come out with such a work leaves no room for other conclusions. After all, there is no shame in talking about a semi-unknown band as the heir to the greats of the past, since everyone started with a debut album, and all came from nowhere to give us genuine orgasms nestled on a musical staff.

Just listen to the first track, "Shockwave" (incidentally the most famous, but that's another story) to assess the band’s destructive potential, but also to understand what the old thrash metal fans must have thought the first time they listened to "Hit the Lights," the first track of Metallica's career; a new and old sound that knows how to take the right cues from the past and make what it deems most appropriate of them, mixing various influences where the thrash one prevails, without hiding, however, a decidedly rooted hard rock vein in the four young lads. The result is a potent potion that causes us addiction, a little smile that makes us still hope that a band can bring the name of thrash back to the top of the world, from where in the '80s it looked down on everyone with disdain.

Moving on, however, our enthusiasm recomposes, our Black Tide in the subsequent tracks and particularly in "Enterprise" and "Light Fast Die Young" seem to overly draw on previous musical currents, lacking originality, perhaps they can be somewhat considered a little "opportunistic" in a world that too little accepts nonconformity, and which likes uniformity as a watchword. The guitar riffs are delineated, seeming to be written directly by AC/DC, and also Steven Spence’s drumming, initially full of fills and pure speed metal accompaniment, softens.

Then, suddenly, ironically, what adds color to a work far from negative, however, is precisely the cover of "Hit The Lights" by the revered Metallica, and the following songs, like "Black Abyss," after the cover, vibrate more sweetly in our ears following the perfectly executed rendition of the piece taken from "Kill'Em All" (1983). Noteworthy is the track that gives the album its title, "Light From Above," in which a truly pleasant guitar riff is a fundamental piece of the mosaic.

In conclusion, all one can do is applaud these kids, and in particular the frontman Gabriel Garcia and his amazing voice, which reminds us a bit of good old Hetfield, leaving us with a bit of bitterness and electrifying adrenaline at the same time.

Even though, as mentioned, at times the songs are quite repetitive, the band's style is still to be appreciated, as they have the merit of making us tap our foot to the ground, and these small gestures are what truly testify to the potential of these youngsters.

Tracklist Lyrics and Videos

01   Shockwave (03:28)

I'm like a shockwave coming through your door
I'm like a bullet at the speed of light
I go around taking peoples lives
While you sit around saying lies

When I'm around you'll feel the pain
And when I'm done you will be no more
Your life is through now mine begins
My days of agony are now gone

I'm a shockwave and I don't need anyone
I'll follow my ways 'til the day I die
I'm a shockwave and I'll take your fuckin' life
Don't mess with me I'm a shockwave ready to kill

I am the one who feeds off your life
I'll be right there when you're ready to die
I am a killer but they're all scared
When I rise no time is spared

I'm a shockwave and I don't need anyone
I'll follow my ways 'til the day I die
I'm a shockwave and I'll take your fuckin' life
Don't mess with me I'm a shockwave ready to kill

I'm a shockwave and I don't need anyone
I'll follow my ways 'til the day I die
I'm a shockwave and I'll take your fuckin life
Don't mess with me I'm a shockwave ready to kill

I'm a shockwave and I don't need anyone
I'll follow my ways 'til the day I die
I'm a shockwave and I'll take your fuckin life
Don't mess with me I'm a shockwave ready to kill

Put "Light From Above" in your car without expectations and prejudices, and you’ll realize that in the end, there’s a small space even for those who, at least age-wise, have a future ahead.

The singer’s voice doesn’t sound raw, idiots, it is!!! It’s called adolescence.
