THE REVIEW

In my second review, I would like to describe my favorite album (Vespertine) by my favorite artist... Björk.
Most people say that this Vespertine is a regression... after the atomic Homogenic, but from my honest perspective, I find it a masterpiece of class and skill, where we find a more relaxed, intimate, and mature Björk, as opposed to the often innocuous jolts I found in Homogenic.
Starting with "Cocoon," a song that marked me, always in a low, soft, linear tone, it doesn't have a chorus like most pieces on this album and lives from Björk's confused and inspired words, the same goes for the other masterpiece, "An Echo, A Stain," a song to understand, to listen to with care, every breath is emotion, and contrary to what is said about this album, there is nothing artificial here... only emotion.
"Pagan Poetry" is absolutely sublime... like "Aurora"... in this work, there are no songs that remain impressed for a chorus or rhythm... but for the atmosphere they create, dreaming of walking barefoot in the snow... or listening to the sound of the night, this is an album that lives on silences, sometimes sad and melancholic, other times dreamy and hopeful.

Medúlla has been out for about a month now and like every Björk CD, I own it, but I feel that something is wrong this time... it seems that Björk has been pushed to do something more experimental after Vespertine... and sometimes she exaggerates and some sounds seem senseless... there's no reason in some verses, that transport felt in "An Echo, A Stain" is absent...

I recommend it to those who live by breaths and those who are not used to seeing Björk as a possessed and schizophrenic woman.
Until next time.

Summary by Bot

This review praises Bjork's album Vespertine as a mature and intimate masterpiece full of emotion and atmospheric depth. It contrasts Vespertine's delicate style with the more energetic Homogenic. The reviewer highlights tracks like 'Cocoon,' 'An Echo, A Stain,' and 'Pagan Poetry' for their emotional richness and unique atmosphere. The subsequent album Medulla is viewed as over-experimental and less coherent. Overall, the album is recommended for listeners who appreciate subtlety and emotional breath.

Bjork is much, much more than an Icelandic pixie or techno-naturalist.

Vespertine captures the magic and the nuances of Bjork’s intense world, serenely making even those who want to embark on this journey with her feel ethereal.

"Vespertine remains the best result of the musical experimentation performed by the ice sprite."

"You should let yourself be enveloped like in a cocoon, just as happens to Bjork in the 'Cocoon' video."
