The revival of garage-punk and psychedelia does not seem to be dead yet, as evidenced by the Italian group Big Mountain County. In the '80s, bands like Lyres, Morlocks, Chesterfield Kings, Gravedigger V, and many others, including our own Sick Rose, became protagonists in the calligraphic reproduction of the sounds brought to prominence in the '60s by Seeds, Sonics, Chocolate Watch Band, and 13th Floor Elevators. It was a vital and fresh season, although the bands in question, often sporting a typically sixties look, were not always stylistically impeccable. However, the mentioned names were certainly noteworthy. Now, the Pisa label Area Pirata, always very attentive to the glorious names of that scene, as evidenced by the reissues and new works of Sick Rose, No Strange, and Steeplejack, releases a live album by Big Mountain County significantly titled “Anachronicle” recorded on November 12, 2015, at Locanda Atlantide in Rome.

The music follows the best garage-punk tradition: tracks like the opening psychedelic “Conflict Resolution,” the explosive and typically garage-punk “About A Clown,” the abrasive space-rock “Breakable,” and the expansive “Brain Machine” literally take us on a journey back in time to a mythical era. “1945” is instead a thrilling garage piece in the style of the great Sky Saxon's Seeds, while “My Time” is a wild vintage rock’n’roll and the closing “What Do You Think?” is tough enough with fuzz prominently highlighted.

An album that will appeal to the nostalgics of glorious Garage and psychedelia, demonstrating how these genres have, in reality, never truly died.
