THE REVIEW

Becoming The Archetype must be in the top ten of any worshiper of the new generation of metallic sounds, without necessarily making you think of metal-core or the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal, nor any specific genre, but just to indicate how their interpretation of the matter is not aimed at the past and has no nostalgic references. The place they deserve is in the elite of heavy metal and in the broader spectrum of sound, and even though I have already mentioned Opeth when reviewing (published elsewhere) the previous album by the Atlanta band, referring to the fantastic "Terminate Damnation", I do not shy away from repeating it; not so much to highlight similarities between the two bands (BTA is more "wild"), but to emphasize how the levels of excellence are identical.

In the span of two albums (I reiterate how magnificent their debut work was) they have achieved the creation of a sound with various facets, capable of continually changing its skin thanks to numerous instrumental nuances and complex architectures, where the transformation aims to highlight how their identity is inherent in change, allowing it to manifest in all its creative splendor. To give reference points, one would be forced to cite many and different bands to outline a complete and exhaustive picture of the situation, but if you try to think of a black metal version of Neurosis, infatuated with both death and the most daring prog metal, but then engaged in redoing a track of Living Sacrifice while next door Soilent Green are rehearsing and in the background a piece by Sentenced is playing, you'll understand that we are talking about something unique here! "The Physics Of Fire", released by Solid State (may they always be praised), is a work of superior stature, one of those albums where the quartet's undeniable technical qualities and an unusual writing style are bound to a musical sensibility capable of breaking both emotional and sonic barriers at the same time to produce the maximum conceivable synthesis using bass, guitar, drums, voice, and keyboards. Becoming The Archetype is metal!
