BATTISTA – LA FAME NERA (Costello’s)

Battista hits hard with the lyrics of La fame nera. "Schiavo" is a scratch on the face with a hint of sado-masochism... (I sell my body cheaply./I’d let myself be screwed without respect./She loves having me with a noose around my neck./He loves having me just under control.) A sick love that... is okay just to not be alone. "Controllati" is yet another track with raw and sex-dripping lyrics (You screw me because you’ve heard about it/ Because there’s nothing else to do/ You screw me without a reason/ Because that's what Pornostars do) where beyond the glam and the “outspoken" Battista portrays well how people use each other and don't love nowadays. Derailing approaches to love that, on the other hand, with poetic and dreamy tracks like "M’innamoro" and "Indaco," make us hope for beauty again. All supported by never predictable beats that reek of slow electro, which Battista pairs with arpeggiated electric guitars, confusing the waters of a rap landscape (if rap is what this album can be called) that cannot think, cannot love, and uses and lets itself be used like slaves with invisible chains they aren’t even aware of having.
