THE REVIEW

The Confused Milonga

Tango is a lifestyle, an expression of pain and love, a passion that unfolds in all its mystery in search of the soul. But tango is also a story of emigrants, who from Italy and Spain ferried culture to Argentina. Europe merges with the New World, bringing the influences of Bach and Stravinsky, showing the way and developing the sonic film that will lead to jazz artists like Charlie Parker and Miles Davis, music to listen to but also to live in its dance form that connects people and changes stories. "Adios Nonino" conveys the sweet and consoling emotions that follow the death of the Father; the profound and intimate structure of the sound perfectly captures the typical atmosphere of an end, but also a beginning, the conclusion of a life journey.

Piazzolla is to tango as tango is to Argentina, as passion is to love and love is to wonder, as wonder is to life itself—the free and illogical flow of sensations that release the connection between soul and body, between sweat and scent, the continuous discovery that keeps us alive. Tango is also frivolous music and true and authentic jazz, which reconnects us with the earth, with our identical homes, a heart that beats and confesses all truth, but above all, tango is silence and recognition, rediscovery; bandoneon and piano travel through classical music and jazz, creating amazing and sensual melodies that bring emotion and a visceral rejection of reality to reconnect with the dream that, between garbage and imagination, finally comes true.

The clear morning light mingles with the night neon, and the music reveals reality.

Astor Piazzolla is Tango, and tango is life, forever.
