And then came the perfect album to make Italian (and not) "hipsters" feel very intellectual. Down with rock, but long live the Arctic, who use the big guitars, lash out big riffs, shout long live rock just like every provincial rock band has always done. But the Arctic are indie, and I would stop here, otherwise I risk wrapping myself in hateful rhetoric.

Anyway, back to us, or rather to them, the AM, their rock has always been a bit nicer than everyone else's rock, and that's very true. It was perhaps played with a few too many poses, but from a compositional point of view, it moved more freely and dynamically compared to the stodgy classical rock. The guitars and drums would beat in unison, drawing very simple but effective geometries, alternative yet accessible, fresh yet anchored to a rather old idea of music and musical ensemble.

So, the Arctic were fine as they were. Come on, they were a great band, and I use the past tense not because they aren't great anymore, but because they aren't a band anymore. They are a mere extension of Turner's ego. And deep down, this "Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino" is quite crap. And there's no need to pretend an interest in this type of compositions when, deep down, you've never given a damn about Timber Timbre. Because you like this album only because it was written by the Arctic Monkeys, the same ones who made you look cool on the dancefloor in 2005, and not only that: you like this album because you've given it at least twenty listens, because you didn't get it at first.

Also because there's really not much to understand, except that these tracks have no head or tail but twist on inconclusive melodies and lyrical hyperboles. So, no, thanks. Let's face it: if an album requires 20 listens to "enter circulation," then it means it's not that great, but you've done everything to make yourself like it. Until the appreciation due to "a brave change of style" ends up being only a sweetened projection of your mind, the distorted form of a massive disappointment that this album justly represents, except admitting it isn't cool.

The new album ... marks a clear line of demarcation with the past.

'Four Out Of Five' is one of the best pieces in the band’s over a decade-long career.

No aggressive guitars and no "straightforward" melodies, the band’s old trademark.

It feels like being in a rich English country house and sipping 5 o’clock tea, surrounded by nature.
