THE REVIEW

For those who don't know them, Apocalyptica is a Finnish group composed of 3 musicians.

In the past, they have interpreted classics by Metallica and Pantera solely with the aid of strings, and they have released several CDs of covers only.
Now the group has decided to release an album containing original pieces. But we don’t just find a string section: indeed, the three are accompanied by an actual metal band.

The first time you listen to this CD, you'll think: “Nice!”, but gradually the CD will reveal its flaws: repetitive rhythms, really too short duration (about 3 minutes for each piece), and above all the absence of a vocalist. Let's admit it: one of the most important things in metal (and which gives us numerous emotions) is the singing. 78 minutes of hammering violins & metal (almost) without vocal parts are really too many.

Despite an air of a new Apocalypse, the CD turns out to be really boring, without a melody to remember (the strings are absolutely anonymous). Among the bonus tracks available in this version, we have “Path vol 2” sung (masterfully) by German Sandra Nasic, “Hope” sung by Mattians Save, and the live version of “Notthin Else Matters”.
The only thing worth saving from the CD is the evocative cover… The rest is decidedly negligible.

Summary by Bot

Apocalyptica, known for their metal covers played on strings, released Reflections featuring original compositions accompanied by a metal band. Despite fresh ambitions, the album suffers from repetitive rhythms, short song durations, and a notable absence of vocals. The result is a largely forgettable and boring experience, with few memorable melodies and anonymous strings. Bonus tracks with guest vocalists are highlights, but the core album disappoints.

I want to live in fire
With all the taste I desire
It’s all good if you let me dive
With some sharks on the ground

You lose your routine
You lose your routine
You lose your routine
Cause I found my path

(Chorus)
What the hell are you trying?
Now I know there is something more
What happened to you?
Still staying on my path
Are you still denying?
Now I know there is something more
That this is the truth

It’s all in you

What do you came for; what did you expect to find
What do your life for; what did you expect to find (x3)

So boundless I feel
And boundless all my fears
Stop running back to old times

You lose your routine...
Cause I found my path

(Chorus) x2
