My beloved Annelies Marie Frank! It would be wonderful to remember her properly, perhaps by organizing a beautiful festival of diverse arts, as I would like to do.

She did not deserve to die that way, alone and sad, far from her loved ones, in the German concentration camp of Bergen Belsen. She deserved to fully live her fifteen years, together with her father Otto, her sister Margot, her beloved cat Moortje, and all her dear ones. Then, as she grew, she could have discovered good music, perhaps listening to 'Only You' by the Platters, or 'Be Bop A Lula,' precisely in the Elvis Presley version, or other extraordinary rock'n'roll classics like 'Tutti Frutti,' or '(You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care'; then, as she aged, she could have excited and thrilled herself, discovering a great interest in the music of Queen, Jethro Tull, the Beatles, or bands like Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, perhaps saying that Francesco Di Giacomo is her favorite band member and that 'Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso,' their debut album, is one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful or the best album ever recorded; or maybe,.... she could have become an emo and discovered her interest in all the albums of My Chemical Romance (including 'The Black Parade' and their live double album 'The Black Parade Is Dead'), or Panic! At The Disco, Paramore, Black Veil Brides,..... But no.... fate decided otherwise.

For this reason, I take this opportunity to send her a huge hug to the sky, wherever she is. All for you, my dearest Annelies. Rest in peace. Until the day we meet in the afterlife. And we will embrace. Because I am convinced that you, now, are happy and carefree running through the endless fields of paradise. And that you are in the light of the Almighty who embraces everyone and broadly forgives, because the good Lord is pure mercy.

That being said, in 2015, the publishing house Einaudi published a powerful volume of 856 pages that includes all the writings of my beloved Annelies Marie Frank. It’s true, her production is not large, but it has a unique specific weight in the literary history of humanity.

Annelies might never be proclaimed a saint, but for me, who feels close to her, spiritually speaking, she is. Even if the pope will never elevate her to the honor of the altars..

But let's move a bit further and add something more. To read this book, I recommend listening to some pieces by Johannes Brahms, namely the first three Ballades op. 10, with special attention to no. 1 and no. 3. For those who wish to remember her, I recommend listening to Quartet op. 15 no. 1 and Quartet op. 45 no. 2 by Gabriel Fauré. But not only that: I would add that to truly understand this book, I could easily recommend listening to the Trio op. 63 by Schumann.

But let's get to the heart of the review. My beloved Annelies Marie Frank is a girl who only lived fifteen years, because she lived precisely during the period when the Nazis occupied the Netherlands. Therefore, the Franks were forced to hide in the secret annex: it is the secret annex, which has been magnificently restored and transformed into a museum, so anyone who wishes can go to Amsterdam and visit the place where Annelies was hiding along with her loved ones and several other Jewish people like her. I am certain that her death will weigh like a stone on the soul of the Nazi criminals. That dictatorship should never even have existed. And quite probably Annelies would still be alive. But everything turned out differently. However, I can say one thing: Thank you, Annelies. I love you dearly! Rest in peace.
