On the road
I receive a promo album of "electro music like you like it" from a friend. I put it in my travel bag and set off to Bern to participate in the 3-day Contemporary Culture Convection of Bern in that temple of music which is the Reitschule, where I'm expecting around forty live acts and DJ sets from breakbeat to electro indus :))))))))))))))).
Finally, during the journey, I insert this new disc, the cover already intrigues me... joy and triumph for my ears (my friend hit the nail on the head).
The first track, Rocker, the most danceable, is a crescendo that brings you to complete abandonment with 80s beats contaminated by modern electro and slurred and compelling acid sounds. From what I've learned, the vinyl of this single is already sold out. The entire album features 10 killer electro-techno tracks with punk, no-wave, and rock'n'roll incursions imbued with "anti" spirit like T.Raumschmiere (thanks, nani, for keeping Radio Blackout in the top ten after all these months, since today it is number 9, I think this Alter Ego is a worthy substitute;)))))).
The Alter Ego project doesn't come out of nowhere... oh no! The "killer duo" composed of Roman Flugel and Jorn Elling Wuttke has been active since the late '80s, having witnessed the birth of the Techno phenomenon from the beginning, collaborating and producing records of Sven Vath for the legendary German label Hearthouse. They are also co-founders of the Playhouse, Klang, and Ongaku labels and authors of innumerable remixes... true workaholics of Techno.
The "anti" spirit already emerges from some titles: "Beat The Bush", "Nasty Dollars", but the album's attitude is that of a divertissement by two old beat wolves who know their stuff "We wanted to make it holding the same intensity of an AC/DC record along... with a lot of fun!" and crazybastard inside, I add.
That same weekend at the Reitschule, I was lucky enough to test this disc on the dance floor as well. I couldn't believe my ears; the DJ at the console, at the peak of his set, mixed the single Rocker... great impact, the room exploded. I will not add more comments on the music; those who are intrigued by this album, which in my humble opinion is a must, can download some real samples.
