For the series: nostalgia, nostalgia canaglia.

The Almedal are not just any band. They were not just any band to my young ears a few years ago. They sing in Swedish, don't know what a distortion pedal is, and use a hint of reverb. That's enough to convince most of you to keep away. I can enjoy them in peace. Trumpets, trombones, drum machines, sticky synths, cheerful yet anarchic guitars.

Not much to say, this debut EP (2006) remains a hymn to what seemed a distinct genre at the time: indie-pop, moreover in its Scandinavian, lively, and optimistic inclination. Just listening to the unassuming gem that is “Och alla platserna” is enough to grasp how irreverent the talent that pervades the falsettos of these young and strapping blondes truly is (and what a bass line, it always gets me). A fresh cascade of cheerful melodies that seep under the skin, just a reminder that Peter Pan syndrome is not a pathology, it's endemic to homo sapiens; all it takes is the right mix to awaken it.

Long live the chirping of birds, the pseudo-clerical falsettos, the sweetened proto-punk, and Ikea (which also helps us in case of constipation with its meatballs). 1 ball more with affection, I will always keep you migo en el corazon.
