I know that with this review I'll probably get a lot of ones, and it will likely offend many who, just because a record is Italian, dismiss the review and the album more out of prejudice than anything else, without truly listening and then giving a judgment.
After this preamble, I am going to review (even though he is no longer with us) an artist who, unfortunately, is no longer with us: Alex Baroni, who in my opinion is one of the most beautiful voices to have appeared in the Italian music scene, a splendid voice that transmits powerful emotions to me, very powerful ones.
I remember that when I heard him for the first time, I was impressed by his vocal range and the beauty of his uniquely distinct tone.
The album is "Simply" a record that contains three unreleased tracks, among which the best is, in my opinion, "La distanza di un amore," along with Alex's most beautiful songs, including "Cambiare," "Onde," "Male che fa male," and "Sei tu quello che voglio."
The album may not be a masterpiece (there was no time), but it is a very enjoyable record with some great Italian pop songs, all supported by a voice that I repeat is stunning.
Unfortunately, destiny on a morning of March 19, 2002, a tragic motorcycle accident took him away, and I like to think that God wanted to have with him the likes of De André, Battisti, Massimo Troisi, Ayrton Senna, and also Alex with his splendid voice.
This review is not so much for the album (which still contains some wonderful songs) but to remember a great Italian singer and also a great person who is no longer with us, on a great music site like Debaser, and I say this without false flattery.
