THE REVIEW

In 2013, on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of "Felona e Sorona", Aldo Tagliapietra writes the concept album, "L'Angelo Rinchiuso", a work that narrates the story of an angel trapped in the dreams of an old man.

The twelve tracks of the concept are intertwined and follow each other, without interruptions, as in the best progressive tradition. References to progressive pop can also be found in the short duration of the work, about 37 minutes.

But it is indeed the music contained within the album that defines its strong prog influence, as in the tracks "Volatus" and "Riflessi Argentati", two instrumentals, both divided into two movements, a first movement and a reprise; where piano, mellotron, and minimoog find ample space.

"Dentro il sogno" is probably the track that most closely brings us back to the aesthetics of progressive, with prominent keyboards and a hammond organ solo, also containing the most evident reference to the album that inspired the entire work, in the lyrics that say: "Two planets in harmony at the end of the universe, behind golden dust and coral woods".

"Storie" stands out for being the track with the most profound and inspired lyrics, accompanied by ethereal ivory keys.

Once again, the great artist Paul Whitehead takes care of the album cover, designing the work "Locked Angel".

Aldo Tagliapietra is accompanied by excellent musicians, who had already been highlighted in the previous album, "Nella Pietra e nel Vento", Andrea De Nardi: Piano, Minimoog, Hammond Organ; Matteo Ballarin: Guitars; Manuel Smaniotto: Drums.

It seems that the, albeit painful, definitive separation from the historical group Le Orme, has given new life to the artist who, in recent years, has given birth to various projects, including, in 2010, the "almost" reunion of Le Orme on the occasion of the "Prog Exhibition", with Tony Pagliuca and Tolo Marton and with the extraordinary participation of David Cross. I would like to mention Aldo Tagliapietra's chilling vocal performance in the cover of "Exiles" by King Crimson.
