Alberto Ezzu is perhaps known by some for his musical activities with No Strange: in reality, he has always been the musical soul of this group, which makes psychedelia its philosophy of life. He began his musical journey with Ra Gebel in the early '70s together with Salvatore Ursus. Strongly influenced by Eastern philosophies and the avant-garde music of musicians like Terry Riley and La Monte Young, Ezzu reaches a method of composition similar to that of Brian Eno as he himself has stated: his personal story is narrated in his recent book No Strange e sogni correlati. In 2001, he founded the Alberto Ezzu Lux Vocal Ensemble. Over time, he developed an interest in music therapy, a discipline to which he dedicates himself passionately. The research of Alberto Ezzu—not only musical but also spiritual—focuses on harmonic singing, a technique used in Italy by Roberto Laneri and abroad by David Hykes as can be heard in his latest album entitled Le litanie di Râ which is released under Hic Sunt Leones by Stefano Musso, a character certainly not unknown to those who follow certain sounds. The music is very meditative and minimal, and it's a pleasure to surrender to the “contemplation of sound.” Ezzu creates a sound universe where ancient and modern coexist, Indian classical music and avant-garde in an extremely original synthesis.
