Afrirampo are a Japanese noise rock duo from Osaka, formed in 2002 by Oni (guitar/voice) and Pikacyu (drums/voice), renowned for explosive performances and a blend of noise, psych, and art punk. They were active until 2010, reunited in 2016, and continue to perform and record.

Formed in Osaka in 2002 by Oni and Pikacyu; collaborated with Boredoms; recorded with the Baka people in Cameroon for the album Baka Ga Kita!!; hiatus in 2010 and reunion in 2016.

MissBlinky reviews Suuto Breakor as a more “mature” and relaxed turn from Afrirampo, trading garage-noise eruptions for exotic/psychedelic textures and free-folk drift. The result is called cute but often dull, with intimacy that clashes with Afrirampo’s explosive persona. The highlight arrives in track 6’s angry climax, hinting that the noise will return.
