In my constant and selective search for "good deals" in flea markets, stalls, supermarkets, etc., I happened to come across the DVD which is the subject of this review.
To save you time and allow you to decide whether or not to continue reading this review, let me preface by saying that I do not know the availability level of this work, published by a label unknown (at least to me): Falcon Neue Medien.
If you've continued reading, I want to say that I would not recommend purchasing it to audio and video purists: the DVD contains, in fact, bootleg material and therefore is of fluctuating quality.
For AC/DC enthusiasts, on the other hand, it is a highly recommended disc.
Despite the cover showing an older Angus Young, it is a series of tracks (21 in total) extracted from concerts or television appearances during the Bon Scott era (1976-1980).
In fact, the DVD is a tribute to the late vocalist and includes the "gem" of his last video appearance (as indicated on the back cover).
Thus, without judging the importance of AC/DC's contribution to the history of Rock, we are faced with an exceptional document that shows the live capabilities of the band from that period and the incredible antics of the Scott/Young duo.
The whole repertoire is there: Bon's hairy chest and features in full view, moving with Robert Plant-like gestures, Angus's rolls and crumples on the proscenium in an ecstasy of solos (even drooling at the mouth...), "rock-blues" stripteases and buttocks on display, "sunny" walks among the audience, with Angus carried on Bon Scott's shoulders. Simply fantastic.
The best tracks: definitely the duo "Bad Boy Boogie" - "Let There Be Rock" in the first of the 6 concerts (Glasgow 18.03.1978), which is also the most honest from an audio-video quality perspective.
The most absurd: Bon Scott's very last appearance, 3 songs in playback with a winking Scott shot in 3/4 and the usual (though more restrained) Angus, in front of an audience of well-dressed elderly gentlemen and "charming" ladies in heavy sweaters, awkwardly inserted by clumsy direction.
Really an exit with style, Bon... quite the prank you pulled on us!
