GAS89-“Young
Sound Artists”- Rock- Colle di val d’Elsa (SI)
GAS89 were born in the suburbs of Colle
di Val d'Elsa, a town of 20,000 souls in the province of Siena.
Coming from three different musical backgrounds, Andrea Poggetti
(guitar & vocals), Luca Tomassetti (drums & vocals) and Simone
Rizzuto (guitar & vocals) meet in the world of music
with the aim of following the same path... that of Rock!!!
Accompanied in this experience by the bassist "Cumma",
they spend most of 2008 in the studio, where, while sipping liters of
beer, they weave their musical fabric, which allows them to perform in
three live shows. But a cyclone takes away the bassist who, tired of too many
concerts and long lines of fans outside the door, decides to
leave the project. A sirocco of pure rock, good humor and
great ambition brings to the banks of the Elsa the scruffy Sante
Selicato (bass) who, from the deep south, easily blends with the three
cheerful boys from Colle. Thus begins a new path for the band
that at the beginning of 2009 records its first demo, a CD in which
the first 5 unpublished songs are collected, a straightforward rock
both in the lyrics, always Italian, and in the very rhythmic and catchy melodies. The mentioned
demo, although of poor audio quality, allows GAS89 to be
selected for various regional and nationally significant contests,
notably the "Senza Etichetta '09" in Turin, the "Tour
Music Fest '09" which, after passing the first phase in Florence, allows
them to participate in a Stage in Rome alongside great
figures of the music scene including producer Giampaolo
Rosselli (BMG Sony), Luca Pitteri, Franco Fasano and highly skilled musicians such as Pier Paolo Ferroni (drummer of Alex Britti, Frankie
HI-Nrg...); the "D.O.C Rock Kontest '09", finally they participate
in the "GDKontest Siena '09" where, leaving behind 42
bands, they conquer 3rd place in the final in Siena. In addition to the contest scene,
GAS89 perform in clubs and squares managing,
as muses, to enchant passers-by with their distortions,
indeed they participate in one of the largest art-culture and
entertainment events of Valdelsa, "LiberaCollArte'09" gaining
good success. But let's analyze the band in more detail... the
name GAS89 is an acronym for Young Sound Artists,
the genre, as repeatedly emphasized, is Rock, Indie, Pop punk, a direct Rock
where the musical experiences of the 4 artists converge,
resulting in original songs full of emotion and tension, these are
catchy tracks in which the band lays bare all their
ideas. They call themselves "street rock" for the immediacy
of their lyrics, always inspired by the problems that each of us must
face every day, and for the hermetic way they clothe them with
music. Certainly unique is the idea to have all four sing in
individual songs and choral enrichments. Since January 2010 the role
of lead vocals has been entrusted to the already talented guitarist Simone
Rizzuto who best fits the role of singer, always
accompanied by backing vocals, main in some songs, by the
rest of the troupe! Thanks to this further small leap in quality
and thanks to the desire for revenge after a rather
unsuccessful first demo, the "Young" decide to dive back into the studio to
record their first self-produced album titled "*Listen
Responsibly".
The album, set to be released in September 2010,
collects in seven unpublished tracks the essence of GAS89 from the past to
the future, from “We are still here” to “Falling down”, the latter
being chosen for radio promotion of the album on
a regional scale and beyond... While waiting for September, the group
continues to perform in various contests and local concerts... from MEGAROCK
to the Sport Festival (with an interview on RadioSiena); from the ARCI
Festival to the Beer Festival... "While waiting to see you
