There’s a place and a time … in which the mathematician Paul Dirac formalizes the concept of impulse; from silence to maximum intensity, then immediately back to silence.
There’s a place and a time … in which a brief roar breaks the silence, it is the embryo of Sibyl… and breaking that silence on April nights are the voice of Matteo, the bass of Alessandro, the guitar of Edoardo and the drums of Michele, the diraq. But it’s not enough … we like to twist this reality … so the final letter becomes a q … because “this way it’s more ambiguous”! … the ideas, on the contrary, are very clear, so that in a few months an EP is ready, which sees the light in January 2010.
With machines and vans loaded with instruments, roaming day and night through streets and stages, the diraq make that roar and those silences resound, each time in a different and unexplored place. “Stoner”, some would say, but there is much more to draw from to make the diraq’s palette more dynamic.
After two years behind the drums, Michele decides to end this journey, the separation is peaceful, but not painless. Filling that void is Federico, because his life needs more roar and silences, so he jumps on the diraq train and the band is complete again.
At the same time, the family of roar and silences begins a stable collaboration with Lorenzo “Dek” De Canonico, sound sculptor and mixer alchemist. His arrival completes the chemistry of that sound the diraq have always pursued.
In May 2012 they cross the threshold of the Urban Recording Studio in Perugia, to imprint on record that roar and those silences that made them resonate throughout Italy, condensing into ten tracks that tumult boiling in their blood, gathered through months and kilometers. “Fake Machine” is released in January 2013.
The lyrics oscillate between social protest and human psychology, surreal stories combined with feelings of discomfort, grotesque theatrical jokes.
This is the place and the time, in which the diraq are ready to set off again
