First of all, I would like to say that this is my first review, so I hope you will be lenient enough.

The album in question is "Sentenced to Death" by the English band Abadden, a band unknown to most because of its recent formation (just in 2007), debuting with this full-length after releasing in 2007 their first EP under the name My Misery.

There's been talk for some time about a thrash revival, both from long-time fans and from new fans who, having fallen in love with Metallica & Co., are eagerly awaiting something new and fresh. However, it must be said that if the genre had practically exhausted itself in the early '90s, there must have been a reason; some say it was the advent of death metal. Personally, I believe that overall, ideas were simply exhausted.

And this album certainly doesn’t revolutionize anything: it's an honest thrash album, like dozens of others have been made, but I believe that it can still be enjoyable. For style, the English undoubtedly take after Kreator (vocals), Exodus, Testament and Death Angel (riffs and solos), which might already make more than one seasoned thrash listener wrinkle their nose, as there is nothing new in this work. Despite this, at least two credits must be given to the album: firstly, there are no tracks that stand out over others (except for The Day of Reckoning, but that's a personal opinion), making the album homogeneous and compact. Secondly, the stratospheric production given to the album by Rising records gives it an additional point for the enjoyment of listening, thanks to the very clean sound crafted by the rhythm section and guitars. As mentioned, the tracks are fairly homogeneous, and more or less all in the same style (a factor that could be pleasing if the album is liked, but could simultaneously detract from the judgment from those who do not appreciate it).

In short, a work that absolutely does not bring anything new to a genre that is persistently being brought back to light (without understanding that it is now devoid of any innovation), but that could still be enjoyable for those who love thrash in all its forms and would even listen to it at their wedding. But, in any case...

"Art renews the peoples and reveals their life. Futile is the pleasure of the scenes where it does not aim to prepare the future".
