Aaron Copland

Appalachian Spring / Rodeo / Billy the Kid / Fanfare for the Common Man (New York Philharmonic feat. conductor: Leonard Bernstein) Grasshopper

Copland is like a centuries-old oak in a rich and immense forest: his music is made of vast spaces, of deep love for still unspoiled places.

"Appalachian Spring" seems like a wide view from above, an idyllic awakening of nature, so incredibly close to the populous East Coast.

Explore Aaron Copland’s timeless American classics and experience the roots of American classical music today.

Aaron Copland

Aaron Copland (1900–1990) was an American composer who helped define a distinct national voice in 20th‑century classical music. Known for open, spacious harmonies and Americana-infused themes, he wrote landmark ballets (Appalachian Spring, Rodeo, Billy the Kid), Fanfare for the Common Man, and Symphony No. 3; he also composed notable film scores and studied in Paris with Nadia Boulanger.
