THE REVIEW

Carlo's Closet:

Inindipendence is an ungainly drunk that remains standing, battling with physics.
Post-rock that transitions from being particulate and without its peers to atonal violence, with not the slightest chance of losing control of the sonic situation; with or without walls.

Disappearing into nothingness like their arrival, this was the conclusion; so fleeting that even their recordings are forgotten. Thrill Jockey yet without any credit for its evolution.

Bob Weston's production has rendered the rhythm section as a child of Shellac, while the guitar navigates between the rough ripples of Sonic Youth, Don Caballero, attempting to emulate the inimitable Slint-ism reminiscent of Spiderland, stumbling into overly mathematical situations.

The slocore suspense is another focal point, particularly Codeine; the development of the songs that varies both in time and metric bitterly pushes the more sparse and barren side into the background, which is a pity.

Summary by Bot

Inindependence by A Minor Forest is a striking post-rock album characterized by its unpredictable shifts from atonal intensity to subtle slocore suspense. Bob Weston’s production highlights a rhythm section akin to Shellac, while guitars reflect influences from Sonic Youth and Slint. The album pushes complex rhythms and song developments that create a unique but sometimes mathematically dense listening experience. Despite its fleeting presence, it remains a significant work in the genre.
